The film “War stories from Paštrik”, by the author Slađana Zarić, is a unique testimony to heroic fight of members of our armed forces to defend their fatherland in 1999. It was created on the basis of authentic archival video footage and testimonies of more than 30 interlocutors. The feature scenes represent reconstruction of events made according to the memories of the battle participants – officers, reservists and volunteers, members of the 549th Motorised Brigade.

The battle of Paštrik lasted from 26th May to 14th June. On Paštrik, the Yugoslav Armed Forces defended the territory of the FRY from land offensive tried from the Republic of Albania towards Kosovo and Metohija by KLA terrorists in collaboration with regular units of the Armed Forces of Albania, assisted by intensive bombardment by NATO Aviation. The aim of the battle, just like on Košare, was unification of KLA forces from Albania with KLA forces located in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.

The Yugoslav Armed Forces remained undefeated in the battle of Paštrik and they inflicted heavy losses on the enemy. The withdrawal started only after the Military Technical Agreement in Kumanovo had been signed. Twenty six members of the Yugoslav Armed Forces died in the battles of Paštrik, while the enemy losses were 20 times greater.

Prior to being shown on television, both documentary film “War stories from Paštrik”, and the film “War Stories from Košare” were presented to the participants of the battle and journalists in the Guard Club in Topčider.

Let us remind you that the film about the heroes from Košare, at the time of its first broadcast on the RTS, was watched by million and a half people, and during the second showing it was seen by 1,200,000 people, and after more than a month, the film recorded more than 1,500,000 views on the You Tube.
