TV premiere “War Stories from Paštrik”
Following the premiere screening at the Houses of the Guards, the documentary-feature film “War Stories from Paštrik” (“Ratnepriče sa Paštrika”) will be premiered on television on Sunday, 26 May 2019, at 9 pm, on the First Program of RTS.
The film “War Stories from Paštrik” by Slađana Zarić, produced in the co-production of Radio Television of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense - Military Film Center “Zastava Film”, is a straight forward testimony to the heroic fight of our armed forces members in the defense of the homeland in 1999.
On this day 20 years ago, the Battle of Paštrik began, in which the forces of the Yugoslav Army defended the territory of the FR Yugoslavia between 26 May and 14 Junefrom the land-based offensive, coming from the direction of the Republic of Albania towards Kosovo and Metohija and executed by the KLA terrorists in cooperation with the regular Albanian Armed Forces units, assisted by intensive NATO bombing.
When it became clear that the offensive on Košare yielded no results and that they could not break through the defense of the Yugoslav Army in that region, the attack of the terrorists on the mountain of Paštrik began. The goal was identical to that at Košare – tomerge KLA forces from Albania with the KLA forces from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Yugoslav Army remained undefeated in the Battle of Paštrik and inflicted huge losses to the enemy. The withdrawal from the Paštrik defense line began only after the signing of the Kumanovo Agreement. In the Battle of Paštrik, 26 members of the Yugoslav Army were killed, while the enemy suffered losses almost 20 times higher.
Documentary-feature film “War Stories from Paštrik” was based on authentic archival footage and more than 30 testimonies. The featured scenes in the film represent the reconstruction of events based on the memory of officers, soldiers, reservists and volunteers, members of 549 Motorized Brigade, who participated in the battle.
