Start of the Course for Training of Civilians for the Participation in Multinational Operations
The second course for training of civilians for the participation in multinational operations started today in the Peacekeeping Operations Centre in Belgrade. The course was opened by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Bojan Jocić, with the attendance of Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command Major General Ilija Todorov and Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security Policy Branimir Filipović.
- Our state and armed forces have more than six decades long tradition of participation in UN peacekeeping operations, and since 2012 we have also been participating in military missions and operations of the EU. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as lead institutions, and other line ministries of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, we are striving towards establishing a functional framework by the end of 2020 for selection, training and deployment of civilian experts in crisis management operations and missions – State Secretary Jocić underscored, adding that it was precisely they who would be our ambassadors in states devastated by conflicts and natural disasters.
The course, which is going to be frequented by 20 attenders, is going to take place in Belgrade, Kraljevo and the “South” Base in Bujanovac from 13th to 24th May 2019, aimed at advancing and gaining knowledge on functioning of peacekeeping missions system, the duties and tasks of civilians in civilian missions under the auspices of the EU, OSCE and UN and behaviour in multinational environment and complex security situations out of the borders of the Republic of Serbia.
