The 20th anniversary of the death of members of the 78th Motorised Brigade marked
The 20th anniversary of the death of members of the former 78th Motorised Brigade, who had been killed during the NATO aggression, has been marked in the village of Reljan, the municipality of Preševo, today.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial to the fallen members of the brigade by the delegation of the Army led by Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, delegations of the City of Vranje, the Pčinj administrative district, the municipality of Bujanovac, the representatives of the Vranje Police Department, the Gnjilane Police Station, the Security Information Agency Centre, Association of Veterans of the National Liberation War of Vranje, Bujanovac and Preševo, Military Pensioners' Association, Association of Reserve military commanding officers and NCOs from Bujanovac, members of the families of the deceased.
Commander of the 4th Army Brigade, Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa said that the passage of time was not a remedy for the grief over the killed seven members of the 78th Motorised Brigade, but it could only be alleviated and that the families of the killed fighters should be shown that we sympathize with their loss and that we always remain with them and next to them.- Twenty years have passed since our fighters died in NATO aggression, those ones who have never even thought of doing any harm to anyone, let alone doing it. They defended their house and their threshold – General Stopa pointed out adding that fortunately there are those who survived the aggression and who will be able to tell future generations that they have defended their country.
Those killed by NATO bombs are: Major Ljubisav Stojanović, Captain Dragan Lukić, Sergeant First Class Željko Alar, Private 1st class Dimče Stamenov, conscript Slobodan Mirković and reserve soldiers Aleksandar Popović and Ninoslav Milenkov.
Memorial service for the fallen heroes was performed by chaplain of the 4th Army Brigade, Second Lieutenant ProtoVicar Vedran Kostić.
