Minister Vulin: Thanks to fighters from Košare, the ground intervention of the aggressor was prevented

Commenting on the evening premiere of documentary and feature film “War stories from Košare”, Minister Vulin stated in the morning programme of Pink TV that the state found strength after 20 years to make film about the heroes who, in the period before 2012, were not allowed to talk about their participation in the battle of Košare.

- They were not allowed to talk about it. That offended those who wanted our armed forces to join NATO and who wanted the Serbian army to cease to be what it was – the minister of defence said, thanking President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, as his first presidential move was raising the monument to Tibor Cerna, a hero from Košare.

According to him, this monument was a signpost followed by a film about Košare.

- It is a monument to those extremely brave people. We will never allow others to write history for us. Without this film, without such films, without books, without stories, others will write history for us – Minister Vulin said.

He recalled that, at the last year's Book Fair, the Ministry of Defence launched the edition “Ratnik” (Warrior), in which the memories of the war commanders – generals Lazarević, Pavković, Delić and all those generals, commanders and soldiers who were on Košare and in the area of Kosovo and Metohija, defending us from the NATO aggression.

- We experienced a terrible attack because a Serb is not allowed to write his own history. Someone else is supposed to write history for him, so that our children, in a generation or two, should be ashamed of their grandfathers and grand grandfathers. They should be ashamed of the defence. They are supposed to think that some other peoples were heroes, and that “the Serbs were criminals” – the minister of defence said, stressing that we should never allow this to happen again.

According to Minister Vulin, although the fighters from Košare are to be credited for preventing NATO ground intervention, nothing was known about this battle until a few years ago.

- This was something to hide. We were quiet about it. The Serbs were not allowed to be what they were – big, brave. It was not that we won NATO. They are too big, powerful and numerous. We did not capitulate thanks to these people, Minister Vulin said, adding that the NATO ground intervention was stopped because the aggressor saw what kind of resistance they would face.
