Minister Vulin: The Serbian army has never been an occupier - I did not expect such a reaction from Montenegro
Commenting on the relationship between Serbia and Montenegro during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of World War I, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said at the humanitarian basketball game in Niš, that although he got accustomed to everything in politics, he did not expect something like that.
- It is hard to believe that there is someone who claims that the Serbian army was occupying, and then the Austro-Hungary was a liberator. If the Serbian army did not liberate Montenegro from Austro-Hungarians, then they were liberators, and the Serbs were occupiers. It is difficult to explain that there are politicians in our neighbourhood, politicians with whom we shared the same bread until yesterday and had the same passport and the same name of the state, the politicians who made decisions in Belgrade and on Belgrade, speaking so ugly about Serbia and the Serbian people, Serbian people which accounts for one third of the population in Montenegro - Minister Vulin emphasized.
Minister Vulin asked that if the Serbian army was occupier, then what are the Serbs in Montenegro and is it a message for Serbs in Montenegro?
- I hope that they will understand that they do not need to do that, that they will understand that they must be with all their citizens and respect all their citizens - Minister Vulin said.
He added that if we only imagine the situation that Serbia prohibits one of its national minorities from marking an important date in its history, the Council of Europe would continuously convene and demand that we be excluded from all organisations and the UN, and here it is peacefully allowed to re-create the truth and insult the Serbs in Montenegro.
- They are not occupiers, neither was their army, - Minister Vulin emphasized.
Minister Vulin concluded that the Serbian army was not an occupier to anyone, never was an aggressor to anyone and never came to anyone where it was not invited, and as we can see, a century later, they are trying to write another history, to justify themselves, so that next time when it shows how their economic status declines, and when they see the extent of their national debt, that there is no new industry and employment, then they will say again that the Serbs and Serbia are guilty.
