Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has met on the sidelines of the 8th Beijing Xiangshan Forum with the Minister of People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China, General Wei Fenghe, on whose invitation he was visiting China
Welcoming the Serbian counterpart, Minister Wei Fenghe said that participation of Serbia in a gathering which is very important for China is proof that Serbia attaches great importance and cherishes a profound friendship with PR China and the Chinese Army.
Ministers agreed that excellent personal relations between President and Supreme Commander of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping and President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, give additional impetus and an obligation for the two countries to expand and deepen their cooperation in the field of defence. The ministers stressed that in two months, since the first visit from Minister Vulin to China, both sides have made great efforts and that a series of results have already been achieved in intensifying cooperation in the field of defence.
Minister Wei Fenghe expressed full understanding for the problems that our country has been facing for many years now and emphasized that China attaches great importance to cooperation with friends such as Serbia on all issues.
Minister Vulin thanked his Chinese counterpart on the invitation to participate in the Xiangshan Forum, stressing that he had the special honour of having the opportunity to address and convey the views of Serbia to the representatives of the strongest armies of the world. He thanked for the support that China has offered to Serbia for many years regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, while not seeking anything in return. According to Minister Vulin, China is perceiving Serbia as an equal partner and we are grateful for that.
The Serbian minister of defence emphasized the importance of joint participation of soldiers of the two countries' in peacekeeping operations under the command of the United Nations and offered his Chinese counterpart our multinational operations pre-deployment training centres. He also made offer for schooling of Chinese Army officers in Serbian military educational institutions. Minister Vulin also invited his colleague, Minister Fenghe, to visit Serbia in the upcoming period.
