Minister Vulin: Serbia is proud of its armed forces
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, have met today with members of the Serbian Armed Forces who stood out in the execution of tasks while raising the level of operational capabilities of units of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Congratulating the gathered members of the Serbian Armed Forces, Minister Vulin reminded that, when it was difficult and when our people in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija were seriously threatened by the incidents and conflicts in the north of Kosovo and Metohija by Hashim Thaci and the special ROSU units, the Serbian Armed Forces received an order from the supreme commander to raise the readiness to the highest level.
- At that moment, these people stopped their holiday breaks, their sick leaves, left their families, abandoned everything they did and appeared in their units, no matter if anybody called them or asked them to do so. This is a Serbian soldier whom we are looking forward to, a Serbian soldier who makes us proud, and that is why we are here today to reward these people and to show to all of Serbia that it can be calm and peaceful as long as there are such people in the Serbian Armed Forces - Minister Vulin said .
According to him, our Armed Forces is able to respond to all the challenges, to protect all our compatriots regardless of where they live, and the members of the Serbian Armed Forces with whom he met today are a proof that it is so and they are the answer to the question - why the Serbian Armed Forces is so persistent, tough and unbreakable.
- These people neglected themselves and their families and were ready to fulfil every order and protect our people. I thank them today for their actions neglecting themselves, and proving how much they love their unit, their Armed Forces, and above all, their people and their state - Minister Vulin said.
Chief of General Staff General Mojsilović emphasized that in the analysis of activities, the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, apart from showing high appreciation for the segment and attitude in the professional activities of their members, put individual and collective contributions in the accomplishment of the assigned tasks in the first place.
- Today we had the opportunity to give recognition to the members engaged in task forces and rapid reaction forces, and the recognition refers to their professional attitude towards tasks, their dedication and affiliation not only with the unity of the collective, but also affiliation with the Serbian Armed Forces as a whole - General Mojsilovic emphasized.
Captain Dušan Kostić, Commander of the 2nd Company of the 63rd Parachute Battalion of the Special Force Brigade of the Army, said that it is a great honour, but at the same time even greater responsibility to do such a job and always be there when it is necessary for our country and the people .
- We have all witnessed the unpleasant events of the past weeks. We then showed our motivation and readiness to be there and this award followed as evidence and as additional motivation, to support us in our work to be even better - Captain Kostić said.
Minister Vulin and General Mojsilović rewarded the members of the Serbian Armed Forces with a seven-day stay at Mt. Tara.
