President Vučić: Construction of flats for security forces personnel to begin in seven cities
President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, today held a meeting with Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and relevant government ministers in the building of the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic on the occasion of the development of a housing project for members of the security forces.
The meeting was attended by Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Defence, Nebojsa Stefanović, Minister of Interior, Nela Kuburović, Minister of Justice, Zorana Mihajlović, Minister of Civil Engineering, Transport and Infrastructure, Sinisa Mali, Minister of Finance, and Bratislav Gašić, Director of the Security and Information Agency.
After the meeting, President Vučić said that 23,423 members of the security forces, including those without adequate housing, had applied for subsidised flats and announced that the construction of these flats will begin in seven Serbian cities by 1st May.
- In the next month, we will start construction in Vranje and Niš, then in Kraljevo, Kragujevac and Sremska Mitrovica, and in the end we will build in Novi Sad and Belgrade - Vučić said, adding that everything should be finished in 2020.
According to President Vučić, the first phase envisages 8,086 housing units, which would provide housing for a third of the registered persons. On this occasion, he sent message to the young people to join Armed Forces and the Police, because they are to expect a better future.
- For us, the existence of the Serbian Armed Forces, which we have brought to a difficult situation for many reasons, is something we have to change and in which we will have to invest a lot of money, will, effort, labour, energy and love for the country. I think we have stopped a further fall and collapse and I invite young people to apply for admission to the Armed Forces and the Police, because they will have a future, which will be increasingly better and more secure. All those who love their country will be able to live decently, but they will always have to be ready to help their country - President Vučić concluded.
In Vranje, 486 flats will be built, in Niš 2,400, in Novi Sad 2,051 flats, and in the first phase in Belgrade, 1,000 flats will be built in Zemun.
