Marking 77th anniversary of civilian deaths in Draginac near Loznica
A delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces attended the state ceremony of laying wreaths and paying tribute in Draginac near Loznica dedicated to preserving dignified memories of 2,950 civilians brutally executed on 14th October 1941.
The ceremony was led by Nenad Nerić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, and besides him, wreaths at the memorial ossuary in Draginac were laid with state and military honours by the Mayor of the City of Loznica, representatives of the “14th October” primary school in Draginac and associations dedicated to preserving the traditions of the Serbian liberation wars.
The organiser of the state ceremony is the Committee of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for preserving traditions of Serbian liberation wars.
The memorial ossuary in the village of Draginac, near Loznica, testifies to the first mass crime committed against civilians during the Second World War in the territory of the then occupied Serbia, when during one day almost three thousand civilians were executed for retaliation.
