Marking holidays in units of the Serbian Armed Forces
Today, in the units of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Special Forces Brigade of the Army, the artillery and missile units for air defence operations, the Čačak Technical Repair Institute, as well as CBRN service, celebrated their holidays.
Pančevo-based Rastko Nemanjić barracks marked the Day of the Special Forces Brigade, and at today's celebration, visitors had the opportunity to see the parade of the brigade units, as well as some of the most modern weapons and equipment used by this elite unit of our army.
Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Army Commander, congratulated members of the Special Forces Brigade on their holiday as well.
Brigadier General Zoran Veličković, Commander of the Special Force Brigade, pointed out that the period between two holidays was marked with a number of significant activities that the unit carried out.
- For the members of the Special Forces Brigade, being in the focus of all the events of the Army and the Serbian Armed Forces, and under the full control of the highest levels of command is clear indication a of what should be done in the forthcoming period. Our commitments are the highest operational capabilities and readiness to respond to challenges and threats, and we will achieve this through top-level training, responsibility and solid military discipline, General Veličković emphasised.
On the eve of the 30th September – the Day of the air defence artillery-missile units, command and units of the Air Force and Air Defence have celebrated today the day of this branch of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Major General Duško Žarković, Air Force and Air Defence Commander, attended the central celebration in the Belgrade-based Banjica barracks. Addressing the ceremonial line-up of the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade, General Žarković reminded of the most important moments in the history of this branch of the Serbian Armed Forces, pointing out the significance of the air defence in the conditions of the modern war and emphasising the control and protection of the sovereignty of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia as the basic task of both the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade and the entire Air Force and Air Defence.
After the ceremonial parade and handing out the awards to those who in the previous period achieved the best results in their work, a display of the missiles was arranged and wreaths were laid on the memorial to the fallen members of the 250th Missile Brigade.
The Day of the Air Defence Missile Units is celebrated on 30th September 1915 in memory of the day when Private Radoje Ljutovac from Tanasko Rajić artillery regiment, downed an enemy aircraft flying over Kragujevac from a modified ground artillery cannon, which represents the first downing of aircraft over Serbia.
In the Kruševac-based Car Lazar barracks, members of the CBRN Centre and the 246th CBRN battalion, marked the Day of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Service of the Serbian Armed Forces. At the ceremony, it was pointed out that the members of the CBRN service are professional in carrying out tasks in all missions of the Serbian Armed Forces.

Today, also the civil-military cooperation campaign dubbed “Protect yourself on time - save your health” was held, where a dermatologist from Kruševac General Hospital examined adolescents for moles and skin changes in the visitors who were interested. Many visitors were particularly interested in representatives of the archers' club Carska strela from Kruševac, who promoted archery on that occasion.
The Čačak Technical-Repair Institute marked the 93rd anniversary of its existence and its St Patron’s Day of the Holy Martyr Faith, Hope and Charity and their mother Sofia.
The day of the Institute is marked in memory of the day when, in 1925, the then State Council of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes gave consent to the decision of the Čačak municipality to assign land for the construction of the Engineering and Technical Institute. Then the institute started with operation under the name known in public as Arsenal.
