Marking the 213th anniversary of Battle on Ivankovac
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces has laid a wreath at the monument to Milenko Stojković on a site Šančevi on Ivankovac near Ćuprija, today, marking the 213th anniversary of the Battle of Ivankovac.
With state and military honours, wreaths at the monument to the leader of the uprising Milenko Stojković on Ivankovac were laid also by Negoslav Stanković, State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, who led the state ceremony, representatives of the Ćuprija municipality, as well as representatives of organizations committed to cherishing the traditions of the Serbian liberation wars.
The organiser of the state ceremony is the Committee of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for preserving traditions of Serbian liberation wars.
The Battle of Ivankovac, which took place on 18th August 1805, is one of the most significant and greatest victories of Karadjordje's insurgents, led by Milenko Stojković, throughout the period of the First Serbian Uprising. It is, however, a dazzling example of a tactically well-conceived and realised military operation.
