Marking 77th anniversary of crime in Terazije square

Delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces has participated today in the commemoration ceremony marking the 77th anniversary of the crime committed against civilians by the occupying forces in the Belgrade Terazije square, near the Monument to the hanged patriots.

On that occasion, wreaths were laid by Zoran Đorđević, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, who led the state ceremony of laying wreaths and paying tribute, Andreja Mladenović, Assistant Mayor of Belgrade, as well as representatives of the associations and the citizens.

On 17th August 1941, in Belgrade’s square of Terazije, German occupying authorities publicly hanged to lighting poles five Belgraders accused to be members of Serbian resistance. In their memory, the City of Belgrade erected the Monument to the hanged patriots in the Terazije square, near the Iguman's Palace, in 1983.
