Celebration to Mark 15 Years of Membership of the Republic of Serbia in CISM




 
Today, the congress hall of the hotel “Grand” was the venue of the celebration to mark 15 years of membership of the Republic of Serbia in the International Military Sports Council (CISM) and of the opening ceremony of the “8th CISM Mountain Running Challenge Cup Kopaonik 2018”.
 
On that occasion, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Živković, opened the international military competition „8th CISM Mountain Running Challenge Cup“welcoming the guests and competitors on behalf of the minister of defence. Congratulating the jubilee, State Secretary Živković pointed out that the athletes of the Serbian Armed Forces had been proudly carrying the flag of the Republic of Serbia for 15 years, thus strengthening defence capacities of their state, promoting our armed forces and the Republic of Serbia in the best way.
 
15 godina CISM - I take this opportunity to announce the establishment of a separate organisational unit for sports within the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, with a sports unit within it. Thus we will enable that military athletes are joined by top athletes, who will be provided with all necessary conditions for adequate training and appearance at competitions from the calendar of national branch sports associations – State Secretary Živković stressed.
 
Head of Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to CISM, Brigadier General Siniša Radović, underlined that over the last decade and a half our delegation had made great efforts to improve the overall physical fitness, team spirit and friendship among the members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces and the members of other armed forces at numerous sports events in the country and abroad.
 
15 godina CISM - In the forthcoming period, our delegation will develop a strategy of sports, and it will upgrade it with new goals which entail new challenges both at competitions worldwide and in the organisation of sports events in the Republic of Serbia – General Radović stressed adding that our military athletes would face great challenges in the following year which include the participation in military games in China.
 
On the occasion of the jubilee, the celebration was attended by senior representatives of CISM from Brussels, Secretary General Colonel Mamby Koita from Guinea and Chairman of Athletic Commission Colonel Mohammed Suliman from Qatar.
 
15 godina CISM Colonel Koita presented a CISM medal to the Head of Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to CISM Brigadier General Siniša Radović for his dedication to cherishing the values of that organisation and promotion of military sports.
 
15 godina CISM At today’s celebration, Borjan Popović, a representative of the company Mozart ltd. which is the official partner of the Ministry of Defence, presented sport equipment to athletics team of the Serbian delegation to CISM.
 
Apart from Serbian team, the “8th CISM Mountain Running Challenge Cup” will include the participation of the armed forces’ teams from Romania, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, and the team of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will participate for the first time.
The organisers of the“8th CISM Mountain Running Challenge Cup” are the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, while the technical organiser is the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to the International Military Sports Council – CISM with the co-organisation of municipalities Raška, Brus, Leposavić, PC Skijališta Srbije, “Kopaonik” National Park, MK Resort and Athletics Federation of Serbia.
 
15 godina CISM The International Military Sports Council – CISM, an interdisciplinary world military sports organisation, under the slogan “Friendship through sports”, gathers armed forces of 137 countries of the world, and the Republic of Serbia joined it as its 127th member at the “58th CISM General Assembly and Congress” with the aim of participating in a sustainable development of world peace and enhancement of cooperation among armed forces, building confidence among them and reconciliation in the region through sports.
