Minister Vulin: Competence and equipment of the Chinese Army is the goal we set for ourselves
- Competence and equipment of the People's Liberation Army of China is the goal that we set for ourselves. Our armies will cooperate exactly in those two areas in the future, said the envoy of the president of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, who visited the elite 3rd Guard Division of the People's Liberation Army responsible for the defence of Beijing, on the second day of his official visit to China.
Minister Vulin pointed out that our goal is to ensure that the appropriate assistance, which is very often directed to our army by the Chinese side, is adequately used, but also that we use their knowledge, training, their instructors, all those things that this large, multimillion-man army is capable of providing to us.
- Thanks to the personal relations of confidence and mutual respect established between Mr. Xi Jinping, the Supreme Commander of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China, and Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, the two armies are cooperating on a much higher level than they had been cooperating before. Relations between the two first men of the armies and relations between the armies are at the historically highest level, and this is evident in the attitude that the People's Liberation Army of China shows to us, and we are going to deepen these relations in the future and develop them – starting from sharing their technology and knowledge to sharing the training and equipment that is so important to us, Minister Vulin stated.The envoy of the president and supreme commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin was welcomed by Deputy Commander of the 3rd Guard Division, Senior Colonel Li Jie, who warmly welcomed the guest on behalf of all the military members and expressed sincere hope that the Serbian and Chinese armies will continue their long-standing friendship, as well as the exchange of knowledge between our armies. In honour of the Serbian delegation, the members of the elite division performed a tactical demonstration - small-arms shooting, martial arts and an anti-terrorist exercise in urban conditions.
The 3rd Guard Division belongs to a group of elite units with a very long tradition, and it was founded in 1927. Its strength is more than 11,000 soldiers. During its history, its members have participated in more than 2,000 important wars - the liberation war, Anti-Japan war, and the war against the United States in North Korea. In peacetime, they participated in almost all parades.The division is intended for the defence of Beijing, and its main task in peacetime is training and maintenance of defence capabilities against land-based attacks, participation in joint anti-aircraft operations, counter-terrorist operations and operations of support and assistance to civilian authorities in cases of natural and other disasters, as well as rendering support in implementation of significant infrastructure projects.
