Slovakia against Kosovo army
Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin has met today, in the Old General Staff building, with Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic Peter Gajdoš, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia for the first time.
Ministers discussed, among other things, defence cooperation, the political and security situation in the region, and the joint participation in multinational operations in the world.
- The Government of the Slovak Republic once again confirmed that it will keep its principled position when it comes to not recognizing the false state of Kosovo and that Slovakia will never recognise Kosovo. Also, Slovakia supported Serbia's position when it comes to the existence of the Kosovo Army and agreed that no Kosovo Army can exist, and that nothing contrary to Resolution 1244 can be implemented in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Vulin stressed.
According to him, Slovakia strongly supports the policy of military neutrality and the policy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
- Slovakia will continue to support Serbia's position in every international forum, and, wherever Slovakia has opportunity to speak, it represents the views of Serbia. I am grateful for this position, especially as the Ministry of Defence, that we will continue our cooperation and that our policy of military neutrality enables us to cooperate both with the East and the West, always taking into account the interests of Serbia, concluded the Serbian minister of defence.
- We talked about our mutual present and future cooperation. Together we build peace and we agree that we must fight together against terrorism, extremism and illegal migration. Only by common forces and efforts can we achieve peace. An example of this is our participation in the mission in Cyprus, where we not only enjoy peace and democracy, but the opposite, we jointly build, keep and spread them in the world. We will do everything together so that we can continue to work in the joint mission in Cyprus. We wish joint cooperation in the fields of education, health, and modernization, as well as to expand military-to-military and civil-military cooperation as soon as possible, which will be to the benefit all of us. I believe in continuing and deepening our cooperation, Minister Gajdoš said.
He said that he feels in Serbia as in his native country of Slovakia and as a friend.
