For Cyprus and Serbia, Kosovo army is unacceptable




 
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has met today with the Commander of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus, Lieutenant General Elias Leontaris at the Small War Room of the Old General Staff building.
 
On this occasion, Minister Vulin emphasized that the political relations of the two countries are traditionally good and friendly, untouched by open issues and based on mutual respect and cooperation.
 
During today's talks, minster Vulin expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Cyprus for continued support in preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty in Kosovo and Metohija.
 
Minister of Defence also pointed out that Serbia supports finding a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
 
During the meeting, they particularly emphasized the significance of the engagement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the UNFICYP multinational operation in the Republic of Cyprus, and expressed the expectation that the joint engagement in the EU HELBROC battle group will enable the intensification of cooperation.
 
During the talks, the interlocutors agreed in the assessment that the formation of the Kosovo army is unacceptable.
 
Before today's meeting with Minister Vulin, General Leontaris also spoke with General Ljubiša Diković, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces.
