Exercise of Serbian and Hellenic Special Force Units




 
A combined tactical exercise FALCON 18 was held at the Šumatovac training ground near Aleksinac today, involving members of the Special Force units of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hellenic Armed Forces. 
 
Members of the Special Force units of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hellenic Armed Forces demonstrated superior firepower and ability to efficiently carry out the tasks of counter-insurgency operations using special airborne assaults.
 
The exercise was attended by Brigadier General Zoran Veličković, Special Brigade Commander, Colonel Georgis Papageorgiu, Head of Operations Directorate of the Hellenic Armed Forces, Colonel Antonios Patelis, Defence Attaché of the Hellenic Republic in Serbia, and other guests.
 
Brigadier General Zoran Veličković, Special Brigade Commander commended the participants for excellent and synchronised work on the field.
 
- Activities like these are used to exchange experiences and see how the same or similar units operate in the region and the world. We can learn from them but also to transfer the knowledge to the members of the armed forces of friendly countries - General Veličković said.
 
The representative of the armed forces of the Hellenic Republic at the exercise, Colonel Georgis Papageorgiu, expressed satisfaction with the successful organisation of the exercise and the demonstrated skills and morale the demonstrated skills of all participants in the exercise activities.
 
The exercise was designed to develop and improve combat capability and increase interoperability between the Hellenic and Serbian armies. At the exercise, it was possible to see several segments, integrated in a whole, such as parachute drop, blockade of an area, helicopter assault with the help of ropes, counter-insurgency operations and combat in urban environment. During the exercise, members of the two combined teams of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hellenic Armed Forces precisely hit all 58 targets and proved that they were fully qualified for the execution of special tasks.
