New Issue of ODBRANA
The Day of Serbian Armed Forces – 23rd April was marked with an array of events. On that day in 1815 a decision was made to raise the Second Serbian Uprising for the liberation of Serbia from the Ottoman Empire. It is a date which is, from the state and military aspect, recognised as a historical turning point which led to the creation of not only the modern Serbian state but the modern Serbian armed forces as well. The official ceremony to mark that holiday was held in Belgrade “Sava” Centre.
Our policy of national security is defined in the upcoming strategy in a realistic and all-encompassing manner – says former Chief of General Staff, Prof Branko Krga in an interview for “Odbrana”. According to him, it defines obligations of some of its elements, such as foreign policy, economic policy, defence policy, internal security…There is a possibility to approach differently defining the policy of national security, that is to start from key national values, interests and goals.
The total of 65 countries with more than three thousand soldiers participated in the world greatest multinational command-post exercise “Viking 18”, held from 16th to 25th April, with one of its command posts being in the barracks “Banjica 2” in Belgrade. The Serbian officers and NCOs demonstrated their capability for the engagement in headquarters and multinational commands.
