Military Geography Institute signs Cooperation Agreement with Matica Srpska
Director of the Military Geography Institute Colonel Zoran Srdić, PhD, and President of Matica Srpska Prof. Dragan Stanić signed Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Military Geography Institute and Matica Srpska, in Novi Sad, today.
The agreement is an expression of the wish and the need of Matica Srpska and the Military Geography Institute to jointly create works for the benefit of both institutions, the Republic of Serbia and its citizens, Colonel Srdić said and emphasized that the two institutions will implement two capital projects of national importance, the Serbian Encyclopedia and the National Atlas of the Republic of Serbia, the work of which actively involved the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Expressing satisfaction with the cooperation and the signed agreement Prof. Stanić pointed out that „we would not have had a serious cartography if there had not been such respectable institution as the Military Geography Institute”.
- Cooperation that is not new, and has not begun with today's day, gives me great pleasure as well as the joint work on important projects that are ahead of us, Prof. Stanić said after the signing of the Agreement.
In the ceremonial hall of this institution, Colonel Srdić presented activities of the Military Geography Institute, a military research institute, which is engaged in research and development and production work in the fields of geodesy, photogrammetry, cartography, geographic information systems, cartographic reproduction, metrology and other geodetic disciplines.
Those present were able to see a documentary of the „Zastava Film” Military Film Centre entitled „Three centuries of Military Geography Institute”.
