Minister Vulin: Serbs Have Always Been Oriented Towards Peace and They Never Posed a Collective Threat
“Since 1999, there has not been a statement more grave, irresponsible and dangerous than the statement of General Scaparrotti. To say for an entire nation, to say for the Serbian people that they are danger for the entire Balkans speaks about and calls for the unification of all against the Serbian people”- stated Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin reacting to the statement of Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Curtis Scaparrotti.
“Fortunately, all our neighbours know very well that it is owing to the policy of the Republic of Serbia that there is peace in the Balkans. And, fortunately, all our neighbours know very well that wherever Serbs live they are oriented towards peace and they know that they are always part of stability in the country where they live, not a collective threat. To qualify an entire people as a collective threat and collective danger is dangerous, irresponsible and a call for fight and conflict with an entire nation. We believed that the statements about collective responsibility, collective guild and final resolution had stopped for good but sadly, it seems that it is not the case.
The state of Serbia is sovereign, free and military neutral country which will make its own decisions and it will choose its own friends. The Ministry of Defence will continue cooperating with the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and work on implementing the military-technical agreement agreed between the SAF Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and we are very pleased with the development of that cooperation and we are looking forward to its continuation and its deepening.
Of course, we will not in any way jeopardise our relations with our traditional friends, nor will we do anything that would harm our longstanding and long-term political, economic, military and every other interests” stated Minister Vulin.
“There is no Russian influence in Serbia or anybody’s influence whatsoever which should be fought against. Serbia is an independent, it chooses its own friends independently and all our decisions will be made in that manner. The Russian Federation is a friendly country, a country which supports our foreign policy priorities, a country which does not interfere in our internal relations, it does not finance non-governmental organisations, and it does not encourage protests. There is, simply, no Russian or any other influence here, which should be fought against and which should be a reason to make treats to Serbia.
We are free, military neutral country and we will continue behaving like that” Vulin said.
