Congratulatory Message of the Minister of Defence for the Statehood Day



I congratulate 15th February, Candlemas - the Statehood Day of Serbia to all the members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.
 
In Serbian history this is a day of special significance, first because of the desire of the Serbian people to create a modern Serbian state and it is a lasting source and inspiration to future generations. By selecting this date on which the first Constitution of the Principality of Serbia was adopted and the First Serbian uprising began, as the Statehood Day, the citizens of Serbia confirmed their will to preserve several centuries long statehood on their European path.
 
I am confident that the members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces will in the period to come persevere in their effort for the Republic of Serbia to assume its place and become a respectable segment in the process of joining regional, European and world integration. The Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces provide full support to strengthening peace, security and stability in the region.
 
I am confident that we will manage to realise the planned tasks and fulfil our obligations that are ahead of us. I congratulate this holiday to you and I wish that in the forthcoming period we jointly succeed in proving that we are on the right path to become a significant element of new security developments in Europe and in the world.
