The Armed Forces Are Here to Help in every Sphere of our Life
Today, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin visited a dispensary in the barracks “Bačka” in Bačka Topola, where free medical examinations were organised for all citizens in the framework of an activity of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
Free medical examinations were also organised today in Vranje and Kraljevo.
According to Minister Vulin, the Military Health Care of Serbia certainly is one of the most significant segments of the Ministry of Defence.
- Some 4,500 of our employees take care of 114,000 military insured, but they also take care of numerous civilians. In the last year we conducted examinations of more than 500,000 insured whereat the majority of them were civilian. We hospitalised 10,000 soldiers and 20,000 civilians. The armed forces essentially do not make difference between the military insured and civilians. The armed forces are here to help each citizen of our country. It is precisely why, today in Kraljevo, Vranje and Bačka Topola we are conducting free medical examinations for all people no matter if they are soldiers, civilians; it is not even important if they have any insurance whatsoever – the minister of defence said.
He added that it was a way to show how much the armed forces cared, how significant our experts and the military health care as a whole meant to every citizen of Serbia and to reconfirm that as much as one invested in the armed forces that would be reflected in everyday life of a community and in the life of every one of us.
- The armed forces are an important segment of our lives and it is always easier with the armed forces. When you have it, you may rest assured that the help is there, it is near, that it is quick and that it is going to be skilful and efficient. In every sphere of our lives, the armed forces are there to help. I am quite pleased with the great number of the registered and we expect that today in these three places there are going to be more than 1,000 people who will be examined – Minister Vulin said and added that because of truly great interest of our citizens those medical examinations would be repeated so that everybody who had come and did not manage to be examined, would be examined again.
Commander of the First Army Brigade Brigadier General Željko Petrović stressed that the armed forces, as always, made among the population an impression of security, and that when doctors did their job in the best possible manner they sent a message that the armed forces “defend their country, heal the people and protect it from all possible adversities”.
Head of the Military Hospital in Novi Sad Colonel Dr Bratoljub Brkljača pointed out that Bačka Topola had been chosen for that day’s examinations because it had barracks and dispensary.
- So far, more than 230 examinations have been scheduled. All interested could come to the examination, even those without medical insurance, but they need to have some identification document. We will continue this activity since the interest is great. The aim is to help the population, then to conduct preventive examinations in order to detect illnesses that the patients are not aware of, because they are not always able to reach a specialist and conduct certain analysis, and in this activity they can do everything at one place. As our people traditionally say – it is better to prevent that to cure - Colonel Brkljača said.
In the barracks “Bačka” the citizens were examined by a cardiologist, general surgeon, urologist, neurologist, psychiatrist and dermatovenerologist from the Military Hospital Novi Sad. Also, basic blood tests were done.
In Kraljevo, in the garrison dispensary, the medical examinations were conducted by a specialist for internal medicine, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, dermatovenerologist, neurologist, physiotherapist and radiologist from the Centre of Military Medical Institutions Belgrade. Diagnostic methods included the ultrasound of abdomen and heart, ECG, dermoscopy and basic blood tests.
In Vranje, in the barracks “1300 Corporals”, an orthopaedist, ophthalmologist, otorhinolaryngologist, neurologist, gastroenterologist and radiologist from the Military Hospital in Niš examined the citizens, and the ultrasound of abdomen were also conducted and the basic blood tests.
