Congratulatory Message of the Minister of Defence of the Day of 4th Army Brigade
I congratulate 31st January – Day of 4th Army Brigade and its jubilee to all its members.
On this day in 1878, Vranje was liberated from the Turks. That was also the Day of the First Infantry Regiment “Prince Miloš the Great”, which was located at the time in a barracks in Vranje which still bears this name. This regiment existed more than five decades and participated in five wars. On the same date, 31st January, the Patron saint of Vranje, Saint Atanasije the Great, is also celebrated as the Slava of the town. These holidays were celebrated by the members of the First Infantry Regiment “Prince Miloš the Great” because the 31st January was the Slava of the Regiment as well. The members of the former 78th Motorised Brigade, which was incorporated in the 4th Army Brigade, marked this day as the Day of the unit.
Continuing one hundred and forty years long tradition, in the year of the jubilee you have recorded significant results in securing the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, control of the Ground Safety Zone, professional and specialised training of soldiers and training and professional advancement of the professional cadre for the execution of assigned tasks.
Wishing that in the period to come you execute the assigned tasks professionally giving full contribution to development of operational capabilities of both the Army and the Serbian Armed Forces as a whole, I congratulate to you the anniversary of the existence and work of your unit.
