Welcome for participants in the joint exercise of military doctors from Serbia and Ohio in Angola
The medical team of the Serbian Armed Forces and a delegation from the Ohio National Guard, participants in a joint medical engagement in the Republic of Angola, arrived tonight in the Serbian capital.
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla airport, military doctors from Serbia and Ohio were welcomed by Acting Head of the Military Health Department of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Prof. Uglješa Jovičić with his associates and representatives of the US Embassy in Belgrade.
On that occasion, Colonel Miroslav Broćić, coordinator of the combined medical engagement of military doctors from Serbia, Ohio and Angola, pointed out that the medical exercise in that African country was successfully realized and completed with yesterday's presentation of the treatment of patients suffering from Ebola.
- What is characteristic of this exercise is that the preparations for all these activities that we had with the Ohio National Guard and Angola lasted for two years, with combined medical engagement in Serbia, and this was an activity that was realized in Angola according to previous agreements. The exercise consisted of two phases - in the first phase, our preventive medical team was on the theoretical training which included educational training on prevention of hemorrhagic fever and other forms of viral infections, and above all Ebola and Marburg fevers. In the second part, the rest of the 12-member team took part in taking care of the local population in two places of Bengo province in Angola - Colonel Dr. Brocić said adding that this exercise was successfully completed with the final exercise.
According to him, cooperation among students of combined medical engagement was at a high level.
- For more than a decade, we have been working together with members of the Ohio National Guard and practically built not only professional, but also friendly cooperation. Also, in the last year and a half this activity has tripled, when members of the Angolan Armed Forces joined us, so we have established excellent cooperation with them, and I think that this cooperation will continue in the future - Colonel Dr. Brocić said.
Twelve members of the Serbian Armed Forces and 35 members of the Ohio National Guard, carried out a combined medical engagement in the Republic of Angola, along with members of the army of that African country, from 4th to 15th December, The medical exercise "Pambala 2017" was conducted in two phases, and clinical operations mission at the field hospital was run by military medical providers from Angola, Serbia and Ohio, with a focus on providing medical care to the population in the field of preventive medicine, pediatrics, family practice, dermatology, optometry, dentistry, obstetrics and gynaecology.
