The second day of the Regional Public Relations Conference "Media, Peace Operations and the Migrant Crisis"
Panel discussions on the second day of the Regional Public Relations Conference "Media, Peace Operations and the Migrant Crisis" were dedicated to the media and the migrant crisis, with a special focus on cross-border cooperation in the migration control.
On this occasion, the representatives of the public relations service of the ministries of defence of the countries in the region, as well as the representatives of the regional media, were addressed by Colonel Thomas Ahammer, Austrian defence attaché in our country, Ivana Antić Ćurko from the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia, as well as journalists Đorđe Kostić from "Al Jazeera Balkans" and Atila Muci correspondent of Hungarian state television, while Commander Jovan Krivokapić, Spokesman of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia had the role of a moderator in this panel.
Panelists, each from their own domain, talked about the complexity of the migrant crisis, citing data, figures and estimates of the course of the migrant crisis that required an effective and timely response, as well as ways in which individual problems were solved. Additionally, stories from personal experience and from the field had special value, which highlighted the importance of humanity in these difficult situations, for which no one was fully prepared.
Today's panel was also an opportunity for representatives of the institutions and journalists from the region, to learn firsthand, in the discussion with panelists, important information and assessments of the migrant crisis that have captured the attention of the domestic and world public in the year behind us, but also to get informed about the security challenges which the "Balkan Route" brought to the countries in the region.
Closing the regional conference, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, Navy Captain Petar Bošković, thanked all those who took part in this gathering, stressing the importance of sharing experience on the most important security challenges faced by the countries in the region. He also pointed out that this conference once again confirmed the importance of cooperation of institutions in the region as one of the most important preconditions for solving many open issues.
The two-day Regional Public Relations Conference "Media, Peace Operations and the Migrant Crisis" was organized by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, supported by the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Belgrade.
