New Issue “ODBRANA” Published

The most numerous structure of the Serbian Armed Forces recently marked its day and it is getting ready to make closing balance in the end of the year. The number speak for themselves – the members of the Army conducted more than 3900 firings, some fifteen multinational and ten times more national exercises, and constructed and rebuilt hundreds of kilometres of roads… The goal to which they aspire is clear – to build armed forces on foundations of glorious tradition which will be ready to respond to all requirement of the new age. Colonel Vladeta Baltić , Head of Army Command Staff speaks for “Odbrana” about the tasks for 2017 and plans for the future. Until recently, there was a wide- spread opinion about insufficient awareness in the Western Balkans about the significance and potential of civilian capacities for the participation in peacekeeping missions. A two day Conference on establishment of a system for the participation of civilian experts in multinational operations of OSCE, EU and UN demonstrated that something is changing in that field. The conference was held on 7th and 8th November in “Serbia” Palace in Belgrade, and it was organised by the Ministry of defence of Serbia and the OSCE Mission in our country. The topic of the new issue of “Odbrana” magazine is the potential for the engagement of civilians in multinational operations.
