Enhancing cooperation with the United Kingdom
State Secretary Aleksandar Živkovic received Commander of the 1st Division of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Major General Ralph Wooddisse.
State Secretary Živkovic informed his interlocutor with the activities implemented by the Ministry of Defence in support of achieving the foreign policy goals of the Republic of Serbia. He pointed out that Serbia's defense policy is based on military neutrality, establishing cooperation with its partners in both the East and the West. He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, pointing out that economic prosperity is a condition for peace and stability in the region.
Živkovic emphasized as particularly important the fact that the current situation in the relations between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Serbia in the field of defence represents the best part of the overall bilateral relations between the two countries.
The interlocutors concluded that an important indicator of qualitative and quantitative improvement of defence cooperation is that it was for the first time this year that a Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme was signed, with a significant number of activities and expanded areas of cooperation.
They shared opinions on modalities and perspectives of defence cooperation in the forthcoming period, with particular emphasis on joint training and exercises.
