Minister of Defence meets with member of Bundestag Defence Committee
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin met today with member of the Bundestag Defence Committee Florian Hahn.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the current political and security situation in the region and the world, and agreed that new security risks and threats in the form of terrorism, uncontrolled migration of the population from crisis areas, energy and economic dependence, require continuous enhancement of all forms of cooperation.
The Minister of Defence expressed his satisfaction that the relations between Germany and Serbia are characterized by intensive cooperation in all fields, including defence, which is contributed to by the excellent relationship between the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In order to achieve the foreign policy priority of the Government of the Republic of Serbia – the accelerated accession to the European Union, the importance of support and understanding of Germany, as one of the key EU countries, the leading investor and the largest bilateral donor in Serbia, was especially emphasized.
Member of the Bundestag Defence Committee Florian Hahn assessed that the cooperation of the two countries in the field of defence is meaningful and diverse, and that it has opportunities for improvement to the mutual benefit, especially regarding military-economic cooperation, as evidenced by the high-level Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Defence and the German Airbus Group, for the purchase of six helicopters "N 145M" for the needs of the SAF.
The importance of engaging members of the MoD and SAF in multinational operations and direct cooperation between the SAF and KFOR was jointly emphasized. The interlocutors agreed that the cooperation between Serbia and Germany is visible in joint engagement of our medical teams in the EU Mission in Mali.
