Meeting of US-Adriatic Charter Defence Policy Directors
Today, at Skopje, a meeting of the US-Adriatic Charter Defence Policy Directors was held, in which Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Milan Mojsilović took part.
The meeting mostly addressed the progress of current regional projects and the migrant crisis and its effects on regional security.
During his presentation, Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Milan Milan Mojsilović assessed that the Republic of Serbia, although essentially a country of transit, meets all standards related to the protection of human rights of migrants, respecting the norms and principles of humanitarian law and the protection of human rights.
Mojsilović emphasized the proactive approach of the Republic of Serbia since the beginning of the migrant crisis, and that great efforts have been made to provide the migrants with adequate assistance during their stay in the Republic of Serbia, to ensure their reception, accommodation, health care, food and medicines, as well as all information on the asylum seeking procedure. At the same time, measures have been taken to strengthen border control and prevent criminal activities of smuggling and trafficking in human beings.
The US-Adriatic Charter is a regional security group, an inter-state strategic partnership formed on the US initiative, with the aim of strengthening regional security and stability. In the mentioned regional initiative, the Republic of Serbia has the status of an observer.
