Open Day at Smederevska Palanka
The Open Day campaign at the “General Živko Pavlović” barracks, organized by the Central Logistic Base, gathered a large number of visitors from Smederevska Palanka and its surroundings. The campaign is organized for the third year in a row and, as in previous years, the most numerous guests were the children from preschool institutions and elementary school pupils from Smederevska Palanka, Velika Plana, Mladenovac and Rača.
Apart from the presentation of arms, military equipment and materiel, part of the Open Day programme consisted of lectures, monologues on the topic of "Stanoje Glavaš" in the performance of artist Miša Bajkić from the Smederevska Palanka Cultural Centre, as well as humanitarian campaign for voluntary blood donation and encouraging new organ donors organized by the Military Medical Academy. The most attention of the participants was attracted by the exercises of water purification, firefighting and the movement of the column of tanks. Odbrana Media Centre presented its publications produced by Dedinje Military Institution, and Military Geography Institute has shown a part of the activities it executes and the latest topographic map.
Citizens of Smederevska Palanka and the surrounding area consider this campaign very important because it is a unique opportunity to socialize with members of the Serbian Armed Forces and build mutual trust, Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Bačević, Commander of the 2nd Depot Battalion, said.
"The purpose of today's campaign is to bring closer the military calling to the visitors through the presentation of the assets we have and a pat of tasks we perform in order to encourage the younger population to consider it as their future profession. I would like to emphasize that all members of the unit have made great efforts to prepare this campaign, because we consider it one of the most beautiful tasks that the Serbian Armed Forces performs", Lieutenant Colonel Bačević said.
