Diplomas conferred to cadets of the Military Academy and the new class of military doctors
Commandant of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zeković conferred today diplomas on the acquired title of officers of the Serbian Armed Forces to male and female cadets of the 138th class of the Military Academy, while the cadets of the aviation branch were conferred diplomas and flying ensigns by Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Major General Ranko Živak.
The ceremony was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Živković, Head of Personnel Department of the Human Resources Sector of the MoD, Brigadier General Mile Jelić, Head of Human Resources Department (J-1) of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Colonel Savo Iriškić, Chief of the General Directorate for Operations of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Angola General Paulo Souza Dos Santos, numerous guests and relatives of cadets.
Speaking to the cadets, State Secretary Živković expressed his expectation that the Military Academy succeeded in building in them the identity of a professional officer - a leader, honourable, loyal, capable and ready for the intellectual and ethical challenges of an officer's call in the service of the country of the Republic of Serbia.
The best cadets of the 138th class of the Military Academy in the ranking are Aleksandar Ilić (GPA 9.73, Public Finance study programme), Ivan Dimitrijević (GPA 9.72, Military Chemical Engineering study programme, Lethal Ordnance Module) and Marija Lukić (GPA 9.67, Public Financethe study programme).
The best cadet in the Army service branch is Milan Stevanović (GPA 9,58, Defence Management study programme, Artillery Module), in AF&AD Stefan Marković (GPA 8,93, Defence Management study programme, AD Artillery Missile Units Module), and the best one in services is Vladimir Marković (GPA 9.44, Public Finance study programme).
Rector of the University of Defence, Major-General Prof. Mladen Vuruna awarded the most successful cadets in their study programmes. Colonel Prof. Milenko Andrić, Acting Dean of the Military Academy, presented awards for the best diploma papers.
The "Second Lieutenant Borko Nikitović" Fund award to the best cadet of the Military Academy in the rank was presented by Zora Nikitović, mother of the perished JNA Second Lieutenant Borko Nikitović.
Cadets of the 138th class have mastered all the contents of military training and acquired the necessary competencies to perform their initial duties in their respective branch or service. Four-year education is realized on accredited curricula in the field of social-humanistic, technical-technological and natural mathematical sciences and is adapted to the highest standards of higher education.
Diplomas of Integrated Academic Studies of Medicine have been conferred to the cadets of the 3rd class of the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy of the University of Defence in Belgrade at the amphitheatre of the Military Medical Academy today, and they will be promoted tomorrow to the medical second lieutenants of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Congratulating on the first great success on the way of mastering the profession and science within the military health system, the Acting Head of the MMA Colonel Prof. Miroslav Vukosavljević, reminding young doctors on the Hippocratic oath they have taken today, stressed that it precisely contains the meaning of the calling that awaits them.
"Please remember it well, because this is not just words, it is the meaning of our calling and guidance through all the hard moments that await you, and there will be plenty of such things. Each of the numerous personal and professional renouncements is worth the feeling of trust that our patients and citizens have in military health. That is why you are rightly expected to wear your uniforms, both medical and military ones, in an honourable manner", Colonel Vukosavljević said.
The diplomas to young Second Lieutenants were awarded by the Dean of the MMA Medical Faculty Colonel Prof. Nebojša Jović, MD, who congratulated the new generation of doctors and teachers who led them through the studies.
The best student of the third class, Dr. Miloš Danilović, and the best student of the first class of the Faculty of Medicine, Goran Savić, were awarded this year by paintings from the "Stevan Šefer" fund.
"Instead of the dead legacies that usually end up in a basement or on the walls of galleries, I decided to create a live fund, so that each year the best student is awarded a painting," explained Slobodanka Rakić Šefer, founder of the Fund, whose spouse Stevan Šefer spent about 40 years at the MMA.
Rector of the University of Defence, Major General Mladen Vuruna, as well as former heads and Rector of the Military Medical Academy and the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, Retired Lieutenant General Miodrag Jevtic and Retired Brigadier General, Prof. Marjan Novaković, MD attended todays diploma awarding ceremony.
Cadets, who have received today professional titles of graduated defence managers, engineers and doctors, will join the ranks of the Serbian Armed Forces tomorrow at the ceremony in front of the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, as the youngest officers.
