On the Belgrade-Niš highway near Aleksinac, at around 22:45 hours, a traffic accident took place in which two members of the 3rd Military Police Battalion, Captain Vladan Jovanović (1985) from Pirot and Corporal Srđan Stevanović (1974) from Prokuplje were killed.
The accident happened when a truck with a trailer, Belgrade license plates, crushed into the military members who were standing next to the vehicle in the stop line.
The vehicles were duly marked, and there were 14 members of the 3rd Military Police Battalion in them returning from the Sports Championship in Belgrade. The other military members were unharmed, and minor damage was caused to vehicles.
The inspection was carried out by a police patrol from Aleksinac, and an emergency medical team and the competent prosecutor came out to the scene of the accident.
Captain Vladan Jovanović was born in Pirot, in 1985, and he was in the Serbian Armed Forces since 19 September 2009.
Corporal Srđan Stevanović was born in Prokuplje in 1974, and he was in the Serbian Armed Forces since 29 May 2000.
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubiša Diković, sent telegrams of condolences to the families of the injured members of the Serbian Armed Forces.
