Minister of Defence in Yugoimport
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin met today with the leadership of PE Yugoimport SDPR. Participants in the meeting spoke about the situation in Yugoimport and the Defence Industry of Serbia, results and plans for the next period.
The Minister of Defence and the management of Yugoimport talked about ongoing cooperation, investment projects of that company in its subsidiaries and together with companies of the Defence Industry of Serbia controlled by the Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting, the Minister of Defence said that a total of about EUR 49.9 million of investments were allocated by the Government's Decision for the modernization and improvement of the production and repair capacities of the Serbian defence industry, and with the complete realisation of the investments of the Republic of Serbia and companies' own investments further improvement of the capacities is expected.
Vulin stressed that in the period from 2018 to 2020, the annual sales capability is expected to be about $ 780 million, which is also of great importance for Yugoimport, which is one of the largest exporters of arms and military equipment.
The management of Yugimport informed the Minister of Defence about the course of its investments in Uzici, Velika Plana, Blacksmith Centre in Valjevo, as well as about the situation in other blacksmith and casting capacities.
Minister Vulin and the management of Yugoimport have agreed that further investment in the Utva factory and the Serbian aviation industry in general is very important.
In accordance with the special decisions of the Government, Yugoimport SDPR successfully cooperates in securing the export and import of arms and military equipment for the needs of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, develops and produces many systems that are being introduced into the arms and military equipment of the Serbian Armed Forces.
It should be noted that in the previous period, Yugoimport donated to the Serbian Armed Forces significant systems of arms and military equipment.
