Talks on establishing cooperation with Uganda
Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Milan Mojsilović, received Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, Oryem Okello, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the political and security situation in the region and the world and agreed that traditionally friendly bilateral relations provide a good basis for the establishment and development of defence cooperation.
Thanking on the principled support of the Republic of Uganda for the legitimate efforts of Serbia to preserve sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Assistant Minister for Defence Policy expressed the readiness of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia to develop bilateral military cooperation with Uganda in all domains of mutual interest.
Since the Republic of Serbia is the leader in the region in the field of military education, possessing vast experience and significant capacities in the field of military medicine and defence industry, it has been established that military education, military medicine and military-economic cooperation are the main areas and contents in which it is possible to realise bilateral cooperation in the field of defence.
They emphasized significance of the signing of the Defence Cooperation Agreement as a formal legal framework for further development of cooperation and they agreed on the exchange of delegations at the expert level in the forthcoming period in order to define the modalities of future cooperation.
