The Day of "Moma Stanojlović" Aviation Institute marked
The Day of “Moma Stanojlović” Aviation Institute - 1st July, has been marked in Batajnica today.
Apart from the employees of the Institute and pensioners, as well as the previous directors of the Institute, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of faculties, civil organisations, companies and business associates, the ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Sava Milenković, Deputy AF&AD Commander.
Welcoming the audience, the Director of the Institute, Colonel Despot Janković, pointed out that the celebration of the Day of the Institute was "an opportunity and an obligation to remember the beginnings and traditions" and to "summarize the results where the Institute was, where it is now and what it is striving for."
Recalling last year's celebration of a century since the establishment of the First Aeroplane Workshop in Corfu, Colonel Despotović reiterated that they at the Institute deeply believe in the unbreakable bond of our Air Force and its repair facility, and in order for this relationship to survive, it is necessary to admit new people to the Institute, send these people to training, to equip the institute, to introduce new technologies and to achieve the closest possible cooperation with the major world companies that deal with this activity.
- Everything I said at that time, started to be realised to a greater or lesser extent - a contract was signed with Airbus, a part of the personnel were sent to training, we are starting with equipping the institute from our own revenues, and I am especially glad that the state leadership recognized the importance of investing to the Institute, and it is for the first time in the last 30 years that significant investment funds have been allocated - Colonel Janković said.
At today's ceremony, stimulative measures and compliments were given, and in the workshops of the institute, the aircraft J-22 and NJ-22 Eagle and G-4 Supergaleb were exposed at various stages of overhaul or repairs.
"Moma Stanojlović" Aviation Institute is an establishment of the Serbian Armed Forces, which is part of the Air Force and Air Defence and whose main activity is overhaul of aircraft and aviation equipment. It is located about 20 kilometers away from Belgrade, on an area of 66 hectares.
