Meeting with the Chairman of SEDM
Mr Milan Mojsilović, Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, has met today with Ambassador Mustafa Levent Bilgen, Chairman of the Secretariat of the Cooperation Process of South-Eastern Europe Defense Ministerial (SEDM).
By the said visit, Ambassador Levent Bilgen marked the final phase of the two-year Turkis presidencyof the SEDM initiative, to be taken over by Greece in July this year.
Mojsilović congratulated Ambassador Bilgen on successfully realized presidency, which was marked by high professionalism, professional commitment of the SEDM Secretariat and hospitality.
The meeting highlighted in particular commitment to strengthening cooperation and further coordination of efforts in South East Europe in order to effectively respond to the threats of stability, such as terrorism, violent extremism and illegal immigrations.
The process of cooperation between defence ministers of Southeast European countries was launched at the meeting of defence ministers in Tirana, in March 1996, and Serbia became a member in October 2009. The main objective is to improve understanding of SEDM and intensify political and military cooperation in the region, for the purpose of strengthening security in this part of Europe.
