Defence Minister with Chinese Ambassador
Defence Minister Zoran Đorđević talked with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Li Manchang about the possibilities for further enhancement of defence cooperation between the two countries.
Cooperation between Serbia and China in the spirit of strategic partnership and the decades-long friendly relations are boost for strengthening ties in various areas of defence cooperation, Đorđević and Manchang agreed. They said that the military-economic and scientific-technical cooperation are the key segments in which it is possible to build special relations, both between the two ministries, and when it comes to Chinese and domestic companies and institutes.
The Defence Minister pointed out that Serbia wishes joint projects in various forms of research, development and production of weapons and military equipment, with potential Chinese investments, including the establishing of joint ventures.
"Our highest interest is the economic development of Serbia. In cooperation with China, we see an opportunity for strengthening the capacities of our defence industry, which records a steady growth in exports", Đorđević said .
The Chinese Ambassador stressed the importance of a high level of understanding and mutual support at a number of issues of vital interest for Serbia and China. Manchang stressed that China is truly committed to deepening the relations in the field of defence and that a confirmation of that are visits of a number of Chinese companies to the Serbian Ministry of Defence in the previous period, as well as continuous meetings of the statesmen of the two countries at the highest level.
At this moment, Serbia hosts the high-level delegation of the Chinese PLA which is being introduced to the capacities of our defence system. The aim of the visit is the expansion of cooperation in areas of common interest.
