Minister Djordjevic received US Congressional Delegation
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic talked today to US congressmen, who are in a daily visit to Serbia. The US Congressional Delegation is led by two congressmen from Ohio Michael Turner and Steven Stivers and Deputy Commanding General of US Army in Europe Major General John Gronski.
At the beginning of the talks, Minister Djordjevic thanked his interlocutors for becoming members of the Serbian Caucus in the US Congress, expressing confidence that their engagement will contribute to further development of relations between two countries and enhancement of defence cooperation.
The interlocutors talked about much better relations between Serbia and Ohio nurtured through the State Partnership Programme established in 2006. From only a few events ten years ago the Programme has increased to 29 activities planned for 2017.
The exercises „Platinum Wolf“, „Air Solutions“ and „Neighbors“ were highlighted as an example of a great success and excellent partnership, as well as humanitarian assistance projects, development of the South Base Peacekeeping Operations Centre and trilateral military medical engagement of Serbia, Ohio and Angola.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to continuation of collaboration in the future.
The visit of Commander of the Ohio National Guard General Mark Bartman was announced for the beginning of June as confirmation of good relations with the Ohio National Guard.
