Meeting of Minister Djordjevic and Turkish Ambassador
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic talked today with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Tanju Bilgiç.
During the meeting confirmation of readiness to enhance economic and partner relations between two countries was expressed, especially after the recent meeting of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Beijing. The importance of the signed Agreement on free trade and Agreement on cooperation in the field of infrastructure projects was emphasized for further improvement of cooperation between two countries.
Minister Djordjevic said that the key foreign policy goals of Serbia were the EU membership, preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty and regional cooperation. The Ministry of Defence will continue to pursue balanced defence policy and work on enhancement and further qualitative development of defence relations with all states and international organizations, the Minister said at the meeting.
Mr. Djordjevic and Bilgiç exchanged views on the current security situation in the region and migrant crisis. It was concluded that defence cooperation was good with the focus on military-to-military and military economic cooperation, education and training.
Mr. Djordjevic thanked Ambassador Bilgiç for the decision of Turkey to continue to take part in the project of building and equipping Morava airport.
