UN Staff Officers Course
A three-week long UN Staff Officers Course (UNSOC 2017) has started today in the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations in Belgrade.
The course, which is attended by 34 participants including 2 members of the Ministry of the Interior, 1 member of the Chinese Armed Forces and 1 member of the Belarusian Armed Forces, was officially opened by the Acting Head of the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations Colonel Nikola Dejanovic.
The objective of the course is to train the participants to work at staff duties in UN peacekeeping operations in accordance with the relevant standards and procedures. This time the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations conducts the Course independently. Besides the instructors from the Centre, the instructors from the partnership centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary are also engaged.
The programme of the Course is focused on the main standards and aspects of functioning of the UN integrated missions, the planning process of a military component, staff functions and procedures. In addition, various experiences from the current UN peacekeeping missions will be presented at the Course. The Course content is based on the Core training materials for participation in UN peacekeeping missions with appendix of the content specific for training of UN staff officers.
The UN Staff Officers Course – UNSOC 2017 conducted by our Centre for Peacekeeping Operations was certified in 2015 by the Integrated Training Service of the UN Department for Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Field Support.
