Meeting of the Minister of Defence with the US Ambassador
The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has met today with the US Ambassador in Belgrade Kyle Scott.
Mr. Djordjevic and Scott have agreed that defence cooperation between two countries is excellent to mutual interest and such trend in mutual relations should be continued in the following period.
During the meeting a special emphasis was put on the importance of the bilateral defence cooperation programme within which numerous activities have been recently carried out with significant participation of members of the armed forces of two countries.
The Defence Minister stressed the significance of collaboration and the US donations for the improvement of capabilities, equipping and modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces. He mentioned the improvement of the capacities of the South Base Peacekeeping Operations Centre and delivery of HMMWV vehicles as the examples.
Mr. Djordjevic and Scott have talked about the current political and security situation in the region. They have agreed that it is necessary to calm the situation in certain areas and that the stability of the region is precondition for further enhancement of economic situation and standard of living of all citizens.
