Decorations on the occasion of the Statehood Day and the Serbian Armed Forces Day
In the presence of the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic and the State Secretary Nenad Neric, the Envoy of the Serbian President Milorad Simic handed over today in the Guards Club in Topcider the state decorations awarded to the members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces on the occasion of the Statehood Day and the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
By the Decrees of the President, on the occasion of Sretenje, 57 members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces were decorated whereas on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day 52 members received medals for exceptional performance of duties and tasks in defence and security.
The recently retired Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic received the Order of the White Eagle with Swords of the Third Degree whereas Lieutenant General Djokica Petrovic, Major General Dusan Stojanovic and Brigadier General Ilija Todorov received the Order of Merit in Defence and Security of the First Degree.
Congratulating the awarded ones on high decorations, the Envoy of the Serbian President Milorad Simic extended greetings to all members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces on the occasion of 23rd April, the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
“On this day we remember the Second Serbian Uprising in Takovo in 1815, which represents in a certain way a foundation for establishing the modern Serbian state, as well as the Serbian Armed Forces, which were formed from the uprising companies, that is people who took arms in order to free themselves from the centuries long slavery”, Simic said adding there lie the roots of the deep connection between people and the army.
The Envoy of the Serbian President emphasized that the Serbian Armed Forces cherished this connection and they remain, in the conditions of professionalization loyal to citizens and render assistance to them whenever necessary.
“The Serbian Armed Forces represent a stable and well-organized system capable of conducting all missions and tasks. Due to the expressed patriotism and devoted work of their members, they are ready to respond efficiently to all challenges and threats to security of our country”, Simic said and confirmed that the Armed Forces had given invaluable contribution to the peaceful sleep of all Serbian citizens in the previous period, showing once again that the country can always rely on them.
Addressing the awarded members, Milorad Simic said that the decorations were the result of their years-long diligent work, commitment to work, unit, the Armed Forces and the country.
“I am convinced that the high decorations of the Serbian President and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces will be an incentive for all of you for even better work and an example to other members to follow”, the Envoy of the Serbian President said. The Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic presented Mr Simic with military binoculars with a dedication for the state care for the Armed Forces, the support and good collaboration.
On the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, 3 members were decorated with the Order of Merit in Defence and Security of the First Degree, 20 members received golden and silver medals of merit whereas 33 members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces were awarded golden and silver medals for diligent service.
On the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day – 23rd April, golden and silver medals of merit were awarded to 19 members, and golden and silver medals for diligent service to 33 of them.
The State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric awarded the producer of the series “The Military Academy” Nebojsa Garic the special decoration, the Military Memorial Medal for outstanding contribution to the defence system of the Republic of Serbia.
