Defence Minister meets US Senator John McCain
The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has met today the US Senator John McCain, the Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services.
At the meeting, Minister Djordjevic expressed contentment with the cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces within the Security Assistance Programme, which is used in the modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces. A special emphasis was paid to US donations to Serbia, as well as the joint engagement in training and education of members of two armies.
The bilateral military cooperation of the USA and Serbia has been highly evaluated, mainly the joint exercises and training, as well as the military medical cooperation, which occupies an increasingly important place in defence relations.
Senator McCain emphasized as very positive thing the significance of contribution of the Republic of Serbia to fight against the Islamic State and participation of members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations.
During the meeting the interlocutors exchanged opinions on political and security situation in the region, as well as the current issues of international relations from security and defence aspect.
