The Memorial Day of the beginning of World War II in Yugoslavia




 
Дан сећања на почетак Другог светског рата у Југославији 76 years since the bombing of Belgrade on 6th April 1941, when the attack of Nazi Germany on the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in World War II began, has been marked today by the commemoration ceremonies and laying wreaths.
 
With state and military honours, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric accompanied by the Commander of the Training Command Lieutenant General Djokica Petrovic and the Deputy Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Joint Operations Command Major General Slavoljub Janicijevic laid a wreath at the Monument to the Royal Yugoslav Air Force defenders of Belgrade in April 1941 on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
 
Дан сећања на почетак Другог светског рата у Југославији Wreaths were laid by the delegation of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence led by Major General Ranko Zivak, representatives of Belgrade city, as well as the associations which foster the traditions of Serbian liberation wars.
 
In the Kingdom of Yugoslavia World War II began by the bombing of Belgrade on 6th April 1941. The massive bombing of the cities led to a great number of casualties and significant material destruction like annihilation of buildings of many educational, health care and cultural institutions.
