Agreement on dual education for the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces signed
Defence Minister Zoran Đorđević and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Šarčević have signed a cooperation agreement between the two ministries in the process of introducing dual education in the educational system for the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Great Hall of the old General Staff building today.
The agreement allows students in five educational profiles in the Air Force Academy in Belgrade, as of the next school year, to study according to the model of dual education, working on maintaining MiG-29 aircraft and new helicopters. There are five occupations - "aviation technician for aircraft engine", "aviation technician for electrical equipment" and "aviation technician for electronics", in the field of maintenance of military aircraft, as well as "mechatronic technician for radar systems" and "mechatronic technician for rocket systems", for the Air Defence needs.
This document also provides support to the improvement of the defence industry by introducing two new educational profiles - "armament technician" and "technician for ammunition and missile systems", to be supported also by defence industry factories through admission of students to work in the new school year.
On this occasion, Minister Đorđević stressed the importance of education and culture for any society, adding that the Ministry of Defence is and wants to be a leader in that and to go a step ahead of time.
- We wish our Defence University, including the Military Academy and the MMA Medical Faculty, to be the first, but also our Secondary Vocational Military School and Military Grammar School, too, to be institutions that will be an example to all other institutions how to operate and how to educate young personnel - Defence Minister said thanking Minister Šarčević for the support he gave and all that he is doing for the Ministry of Defence, but also to the Government of the Republic of Serbia that recognized the importance of dual education that will certainly enhance the work of the Ministry of Defence.
According to Minister Đorđević, dual education will improve the future cadre that is to finish their education in the forthcoming period, expressing assurance that these young people will be much more educated and better capable of doing their jobs, both at the Ministry of Defence, and in our defence industry.
- This is an opportunity for students to develop their professional competences through on-the-job training and opens up the possibility for their employment in companies of the defence industry immediately after graduation, Đorđević said.
Noting the importance of dual education, Minister Šarčević said that the ministry has to be a significant partner in important processes taking place in our country, including, of course, the development of the defence industry and equiping the Air Force and Air Defence.
- Today we signed a protocol on long-term cooperation, and, in fact, the cause was five dual profiles in the field of military aviation, for various purposes - Minister Šarčević pointed out adding that the goal is that our Armed Forces is ready, and educational processes should be adapted to that end. He also pointed out the importance of this type of education also for the civil aviation.
The agreement is the result of successful cooperation between the two ministries and the Air Force Academy in the creation of educational profiles to meet the needs of the Air Force and Air Defence of the Serbian Armed Forces. The curricula are in line with the highest European standards.
The signing of the agreement was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, and Director of the Air Force Academy, Goran Cvijović.
