Send-off ceremony for contingent to mission in Cyprus
Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Diković attended the send-off ceremony for the contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces to the UN-mandated multinational operation in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
The ceremony was also attended by the Air Force and Air Defence Commander Major General Ranko Živak with his associates, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, local authorities, churches, family members, friends and family of the members of the contingent.
General Diković said that the Serbian Armed Forces pays very much attention to the organization of the tasks from the participation in peacekeeping missions around the world. He gave recognition to the members of the twelfth rotation leaving for Cyprus because, according to the assessment of preparedness, they were the best team so far.
- That speaks that you incorporated in your preparation all the previous experience from the mission in Cyprus, that you are extremely serious about the task and willing to go to the execution of the task. It is a privilege today to be chosen for the mission in Cyprus, as it is privilege to be a member of the 98th Aviation Brigade and honour to belong to the Serbian Armed Forces, General Diković said.
He added that our army is the army of peace, that it "serves the purpose of building and strengthening of peace in the region, it poses no threat to anyone, not because it is weak, but because it follows the Serbian policy of peace".
