Promotion of PhDs on the Occasion of the Defence University Day
In the Simulation and Distance Learning Centre of the Military Academy, a ceremonious promotion was held today of 45 PhDs of Defence University, who had obtained that title in the last year.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr Nenad Nerić attended the ceremony, together with the representatives of the Defence University, Heads of Military Academy and the Medical Faculty of the MMA, members of boards for the evaluation and defence of doctoral thesis and the members of families.
Major General Mladen Vuruna Prof Dr, the Rector of the University conferred today the diplomas to the promoted PhDs.
Congratulating them on the diplomas on behalf of all the professors of the Defence University, the Vice-Chancellor for the Scientific and Research Work of the University, Mirjana Životić-Vanović Prof PhD emphasised that the diploma of a Doctor of Philosophy is one of the important goals that they achieved in their life.
- Doctoral thesis defended last year, offer to our Armed Forces a greater number of models in different areas, which, as the authors wrote themselves, contribute to the efficiency, effectiveness and economy. We do not know whether those models will be applied or not - the time will tell. But what we know is that the professors and researchers in military scientific and research institutions would gladly accept applying the scientific methods in their research and for finding solutions to the problems that surely exist in defence system but of which we, the researchers are not aware – said Prof Životić-Vanović.
She also wished the PhDs a lot of success if they opted for scientific and research carrier, wishing them to find a balance between this highly demanding profession of researcher and professor and the private life.
- Do not expect success from your desires, but build and earn it by your work. Always do something that is right, not something that is acceptable – declared the Vice-Chancellor for the Scientific and Research Work of the Defence University, Mirjana Životić-Vanović Prof PhD.
Defence University was founded on 24th February 2011 and it is an independent high educational institution carrying out the activities of providing high education through academic studies of the first, second and third degree in several scientific fields in the framework of educational and scientific disciplines of humanities, technical-technological and medical science.
In the framework of its activities of providing high education, the University also conducts scientific and research work through basic, applied and developmental research which are in function of the improvement and modernisation of education within defence system.
