Enhancement of the Cooperation with Kazakhstan
The Minister of Defence, Mr Zoran Đorđević met with the Deputy Minister of Defence and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Arman Ramazanov in order to consider the opportunities for the cooperation of the two countries in the field of defence, with the focus on military-economic and military-technical cooperation.
The interlocutors agreed that there was room for the enhancement of defence cooperation that could be directed towards the following areas: aviation equipment, motor vehicles and components, ammunition and explosives, optoelectronics and overhaul and modernisation of arms and military equipment originating from former USSR.
During the meeting the subject was also the opportunity for the production of dual purpose articles both for defence and civilian industry, but in order to make the defence cooperation instutionalised, Minister Đorđević emphasised the need of signing an Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defence.
Mr Đorđević informed Mr Ramazanov that the members of the Serbian Armed Forces would participate as observers in the exercise “Unbreakable Brotherhood 2017” which was planned to be executed in Kazakhstan in September, and that they would also take part in the exercise organised for the purpose of countering human and drugs trafficking, which is primarily within the purview of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia.
Đorđević furthermore thanked Mr Ramazanov because Kazakhstan supported our legitimate efforts to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.
