Awarding the recognition for the noblest deed
Today, in the Assembly of the City of Belgrade, for the 54th time the gold and special plaques were ceremoniously awarded to the winners of these recognitions within the initiative of the “Večernje Novosti“ daily – “the Noblest Deed of the Year”. The Minister of Defence, Mr Zoran Đorđević, attended the ceremony together with Brigadier General Jelesije Radivojević, Deputy Commander for the Training.
The CEO and the Editor in Chief of the “Novosti” Company, Radomir Ratko Dmitrović greeted the present and presented the awarded with the plaques.
The golden plaque for the noblest individual deed was awarded to nineteen year old David Marković from Cerovac near Smederevska Palanka, who, last June, although temporarily employed as a construction worker for a daily allowance of 1200 RS dinars, without hesitation returned lost 700 000 RS dinars to the owner.
The golden plaque for a child deed was given to the pupils of “Milena Pavlović Barili” elementary school from Belgrade residential area Višnjica, since they had raised money for building new home for their school friends Luka and Tamara Kremić, whose home had been consumed by fire on 10th January last year.
Members of Gendarmery squad in Kraljevo also received the golden plaque because, by giving away a percentage of their salaries, they had bought an apartment in Vrnjačka Banja for Vuk and Marina Sinđelić, the son and wife of a colleague who had died on duty in the Land Safety Zone on the Administrative Line with Kosovo and Metohija.
The fourth golden plaque for the noblest deed was awarded posthumously to Dragan Cvetković from Belgrade who had perished in the whirlpools of the Danube trying to save life of Miroslav Pleško from Zagreb while they were on a tourist trip to the Danube delta in Romania.
Apart from the four golden ones, the special plaques for the noblest deed of the year were also awarded at that ceremony.
The jury traditionally presided over by academician Matija Bećković, also consisted of the Deputy Head of the MMA, Col Dragan Dinčić Prof Dr, actresses Rada Đuričin and Tanja Bošković, the famous water polo player and the President of the Municipality Novi Beograd, Aleksandar Šapić, “Comtrade” Director Veselin Jevrosimović, fashion designer Verica Rakočević and the CEO and Editor in Chief of the “Novosti” Company Ratko Dmitrović.
Academician Matija Bećković, the President of the jury, pointed out that the ones who performed good deeds were the heroes for all times, not just for the past year.
-The Script says that the ten righteous ones saved the world. In this initiative alone there were three times more righteous ones. Needless to say, not even one of them did think of any kind of reward, nor they did anything for the award, while they knew nothing about the ones they helped except that they were people in distress. The award that they alone awarded to themselves cannot be compared to any other, and the one that we are presenting is yet a gift which we give them in return for the one they had given to us and we need it more than they do - pointed out our renowned academician.
Apart from the award giving ceremony, on that occasion, the filmed stories about the heroes of our days and their deeds were presented as well.
